Little Earthquakes - Tori Amos
Little Earthquakes, released in 1992 set the bar high for female singer songwriters throughout the Nineties. Tori Amos gave us a deeply personal, challenging and often humorous debut and introduced an original and very individual talent. Crucify is probably the best known track, but other standouts include the ode to independence Winter, the jaunty and hopeful Happy Phantom and Precious, dealing with the desire to "break and wash away" painful memories. The overall result is a magical album for Thursdays Critical Junction.Track Listing

Oh wow!!!...this takes me back to when I met Mrs EJ and we went to Killarney for a weekend. We played this album to death in the car while we drove around the Ring of Kerry....Fantastic stuff Sarah!!..If you could, could you play Me and a Gun at 9am for me please...Excellent choice...and thanks for the memories...xx
Phew, I was a little concerned that the reaction to this would be mediocre. It's perhaps less predictable than previous choices. I've been listening to the album again recently and so much of it is outstanding. I have to admit I find Me And A Gun a little difficult, the subject matter is hard to take, but kudos to Tori and I'll make sure we play it at 9am, this is another album that will be sprinkled throughout the show.

Hey its me Nicknameless1 here. didn't realise I had a blogger account setup... Anyway looking forward to hearing Tori Amos. wouldn't be going out to buy her albums but there is something about her music that I enjoy. Good choice again Sarah

The subject matter of the song is difficult, I agree, but it is a haunting piece of music all the same...'n'anyways...nearly all of her songs have difficult subjects, for she is the voice of the broken woman (and a jolly nice voice she has too)

Great choice Sarah! I'll make a huge effort to listen in this week. You kick off at 7am right?
Le Catch - 7 - 10am - Lot's of traffic, lot's of Tori!!
Dave's Dilemma - It is true that Tori Amos covers a lot of difficult subject matter, maybe I was just being a bit of a woos. I'll make a point of playing Me And A Gun at 9am.
Hmm Sarah - I am afraid I am in the mediocre team on this one. Probably deserves to be on the list but only just. Based on this mornings track a bit of a Kate Bush wannabee.
In fairness, I think Tori has a lot more going for her than the Kate Bush comparison, plus the song writing styles are really different even if there is a tonal quality that's similiar. Give it a listen Greg. It might surprrise you.
